What is IoT?

The IoT (Internet of Things) refers to interconnected devices communicating and sharing data over the internet. This technology has brought about a significant revolution in the tech industry by enabling machines and devices to exchange data and operate independently without human intervention. The IoT transforms every aspect of human lives, from healthcare, transportation, agriculture, and manufacturing. IoT devices range from home appliances, vehicles, and industrial machines, to environmental sensors and wearables. The IoT creates massive amounts of data to be analyzed and used to improve various aspects of our lives. For instance, data generated from hospital sensors can be used to monitor patient health and predict disease outbreaks. In contrast, data collected from transportation systems can be used to improve efficiency, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance road safety. Likewise, IoT sensors in agriculture can be used for smart irrigation and pest detection, leading to more sustainable and efficient farming practices.
